2-hour walking tour – The unmissables

Discover all the must-see places of Trondheim with a passionate local guide.

Let’s begin your tour at the market square, the heart of the city. There, you will see the statue of Olav Tryggvason who founded the city during the Viking era.
A little stroll through the main avenue of Trondheim will get you to the northernmost gothic cathedral of the world : Nidarosdomen (Outside visit only).
Then follow your guide into a time travel and go back to the 17th century ! Cross the famous Old Town Bridge, also known as the “portal of happiness » and explore Bakklandet, the old town of Trondheim. In this colorful neighborhood let your guide shows you an inventive curiosity of Norway : the only bicycle lift of the world !
On your way back to the city center, learn more about the royal family and its summer residence in front of Stifstgården.

This visit is an OUTSIDE WALKING TOUR (only) and DOES NOT include any entrances. Trondheim’s city center is mostly flat. However, the old neighborhood is made of cobblestones. Hardly accessible to wheelchair/stroller.


3-hour walking tour – Trondheim in a nutshell

After this visit, Trondheim’s city center will no longer have any secret for you !
Start your tour at the Market Square, the heart of the city. There you will see the statue of Olav Tryggvason who founded the city in the Viking Age. A short stroll along Trondheim’s main avenue will take you to the northernmost Gothic cathedral in the world: Nidarosdomen (Outside visit only).
Continue with a tour around the archbishop palace, walk along the Nidelva river in the Marinen park and look up at the Kristiansten Fortress while your guide explains you the Norwegian History. Hear about the Great Northern War and the Second World War in Trondheim.
Then follow your guide and travel back in time to the 17th century! Cross the famous Old Town Bridge, also known as the “Gate of Happiness” and explore Bakklandet, Trondheim’s Old Town. In this colourful district, let your guide show you an inventive curiosity of Norway : the world’s only bicycle elevator!
Walk to Solsiden also known as the “Sunny side“ of the city and discover more about the old shipyard of Trondheim. Pass next to old fishing boats along the canal and see how important the fishing buisness was in Trondheim. On the way back to the city center, learn more about the royal family and their summer residence in front of the Stifstgården.

Our meeting point

The meeting point is situated at Torvet, the main square of Trondheim, in front of the restaurant Hevd Bakeri & Pizzeria Torget. The guide will wait for you with the sign of the company : Gaël & Maëlle Travel.

What to bring

Norwegian weather can sometimes be unpredictable and the visit takes place outdoor. Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear.

If you are late

If you are going to be late, contact us as soon as possible (before the beginning of the tour) and let us know your location. After your message we can wait up to 10 minutes after the starting time. Without any news from you, the tour will start at the scheduled time and you will be considered as no-show.

If you have strict time obligation please inform us when making your reservation. If you notify us less than 24h in advance your time obligation will not be taken into account by our team.
